I am doing some work on young adults, faith, and identity right now. In the midst of this work some questions have emerged that I think are interesting to ask ourselves. So here goes....
1. What matters more to you - good preaching or good music?
2. What matters more to you - good musical sound or strong theological lyrics?
3. What matters more to you - good theology or good community?
4. What matters more to you - focused mission or unlimited opportunities?
5. What matters more to you - openness of community or theological/biblical correctness?
These are great questions and in answering them I 'demanded' a one or the other answer (quite un-Lutheran I think) and it created some great conversation. Muddle around with them, let me know what you discover.

Waiting...
Here I am, waiting
waiting for acknowledgement
waiting to be seen
waiting
I am screaming, "I'm here!
I'm here!"
But the response is silence
abandonment
I am yearning to be known
responded to
cared for, supported
yet I sit alone
Does anyone see me
here me crying
reaching out for contact
for connection
Here I am waiting
...waiting

Life can be tough, especially when one leads another to believe that they matter, that they count for something. Yet we as humanity quite naturally drop the ball, abandon each other, and seek only our own desires.

Psalm 42 - Reflected
My heart thirsts, my soul longs to remember the days ago,
Yet amidst the multitude of voices and callings of the world
I am disquieted, I am shaken, I am seperated.
For deep calls out and brings me to see you, to see my distance.
I am disquieted, I am shaken, I am seperated.
Holding fast to only my home in God, my hope in the promise fulfilled.
when each word I uttered was praise.
Yet amidst the multitude of voices and callings of the world
I am disquieted, I am shaken, I am seperated.
Holding fast to only my hope in God, my hope in the promise fulfilled.
For deep calls out and brings me to see you, to see my distance.
Almost like a taunt.
I am disquieted, I am shaken, I am seperated.
Holding fast to only my home in God, my hope in the promise fulfilled.

This poem was written during a meditative prayer time in my Christian Spirituality and Prayer class earlier this afternoon.
