What more could you want? I am sitting in the living room of a pink house in SW Florida. The pool is just off to my left and the convertible car is off to my right in the garage. We have massages and facials scheduled this afternoon, followed by some good time on the beach. This is great, but I am not sure I could do this forever. No alarm clocks. Watching TV from the pool. Eating and drinking good (and not so good) for you delicacies? This is why they call is vacation.
Tomorrow morning we will set an alarm clock and get up before dawn to head to Sannibel Island to do some shelling. Apparently it is one of the biggest and best places to shell in the US. We will also probably rent some scooters and just putz all up and down the island as we wish.
Yesterday we drove from Ft. Myers to Lover's Island or something like that...great drive. Ended up at a beach - Barefoot Beach - that is a Gopher Turtle Sanctuary. Didn't see any turtles, but got some great shells and a wonderful walk on the beach - even those it was threatening rain. Saw a movie in a theater that serves you lunch/dinner. Nice. Good movie, okay food, good friends.
The quiet time in the morning (right now) as my friends are sleeping in is great! I find some good time for prayer, reflection, and reading (or updating my blog.) The pool is calling right now, but I am going to hold off.
Vacation is good. Now if I could get mself to enjoy and truly take this time (although not in such quantity) regularly, Sabbath would be found and lived. We will see.
(SIDE NOTE - I am interviewing with a parish and will probably interview later this month again. Please continue to pray for me, for the parish that interviews me, and for this process as it takes place across the church.)
