What are you looking for?

The first words that Jesus speaks in the Gospel of John, "What are you looking for?" This afternoon in my Christian Spirituality and Prayer class we did an imaginative prayer with this text. The poem below is what flowed from my pen in a matter of minutes. Not the best of my stuff but raw and real. And really, can you get any better than that? Let me know what you think.

What Are You Looking For?

What are you looking for?
I am looking for love...
What kind of love?
A love that is deep and real
A love that one can see and feel
A love that I am surrounded with
Yet I sense that I am without
What are you looking for?
I am looking for love.

Come and see.
He says to me
See what this love can truly be.
A love that is as real as breath
A love that breaks the power of death
A love that is fully found
Amongst the feet upon the ground.
He says to me...
Come and see.
