On Friday, May 2 the Bull Run Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will be sponsoring an educational/advocacy benefit concert. Come and learn more about the real issue of hunger in our community and the world, connect with various agencies and ministries, and other folks from the community and enjoy some fun games and snacks. Then join with the entire gathered community for a celebration of our call to serve in our community as musical artist Shawn Smith helps us end the evening with a live concert.
We want you there! Doors open @ 6:30. Cost is two cans of food for individuals, or food drive collection for a group.
Let's Join Hands and help to end hunger in our community!

CAPS hold their own - but the season is over
Well two loses in my little world...the first was Clinton's win over Obama in PA.
The second and probably more emotional is that the CAPS after an incredible cinderella season of hard work, focus, and energy lost their last game of the season tonight in sudden death OT. They are out of the playoffs now.
Philly and the CAPS went head-to-head in this semi-final match, but in the end someone had to win. At the close of the season the two teams were only 1 point apart - CAPS being one point ahead of the the Flyers. And tonight the teams were only 1 point apart - Flyers taking the game winning OT goal.
Good work guys - great season! I am glad to be back in the DC area, I am glad to be back on the fan bench, I am thankful for your skills an passion.
Get some rest, play some golf, spend time with families and we'll see you in the preseason!!
Here's to the CUP for the CAPS in 2009!

CAPS take #5!
Well I went to my first NHL game in a long time earlier today and it was magnificent!
The Washington Capitals are closing the gap on a lead that the Philadelphia Flyers have on them in the quarter-finals. They won the first game and then lost the next two - one pretty bad, and one that was a nail-biter! But this afternoon's games was good - except for the last period where the Flyers seemed to begin to come back - but they held them off. I will say the last 90 seconds were true nail-biters!
So now the series stands at 2-3 - with a best of of 7. The next game is Monday night in Philly and the Caps must take that otherwise it is all over. Then the final game on Tuesday back in DC.
Here's to a great team, a new beginning, and a wonderful run to the cup!
